So what is eJeevika?
People ask me, what is eJeevika?
I give them a standard answer , one that they can get by visiting our website also.
Many people look at eJeevika differently, it depends from which section of the industry they are coming from.
The Academicians, NGO's, Journalists, Social Workers look at eJeevika as a company that will provide employment.That we must be one of the many companies trying to bridge the rural and urban divide, bring economic prosperity in rural areas by creating employment opportunities etc.
The Venture Capitalists community have a 'wait and watch','too soon too young' approach. Corporate have a different approach,' can they give us 100 next month', 'how good the training would be?' 'Are they cost effective?'
Well eJeevika is all this and more.
Its a dream (definitely mine also) but....this dream is not mine only. Its a dream of many people whom I don't know (neither do they know me). In my childhood, during my school days, my college days ,I came across many discussions in which people said ...."India ka kuch bhi nahi ho sakta"....some people used to say...'we hope we lived in some other country.'...some people said , 'there are so many problems, no avenues, no future for our country'. They all ...whom I know...and many whom I don't know (people whom I overheard talking the same way while traveling in train / bus etc). All of them still feel the same way. And one thing I have observed is that all of them Hope that some one does some thing to improve this situation.
I have read a little bit about our leaders like Gandhi & Sardar Patel who knew that the heart of India is in its villages. It made me feel that may be 'eJeevika' (kind of initiatives) are what they dreamt of.
When I met our Prof. Ashok Jhunjunwala I felt connected with his vision of getting Internet in every village of India, connecting the rural to the globe and thus improving the overall economic development of our country.
(Hey, before I write further, I want to emphasis that eJeevika is about 'economic' development and rest all other developments will be a byproduct of the same. So it is a commercial entity and eJeevika means business.)
So, on a more subtle level, eJeevika is a dream of our Prof.
It's a dream of all the Tenet Profs who are just out of this world. It is a dream of all the parents who live in rural areas, all the youth who want to show to the world that they are no less. It is a dream of great leaders like M. Gandhi and others. It is a dream of my grandfather (though he doesn't know about it), it is a dream of my father (though he laughs on me as I left a stable secure,well paying job). It is a dream of my Hubby who has raised my level of thinking , confidence,security and exposure.
So, when any one asks me ...what is it that you do?...what are your plans?...what is your vision? I am at loss of words. Can I say that our vision is to become a million dollar company in next few years? Can I say that our vision is to have 1 lakh franchisee, train and get employment for 1 million people? Can I say that when ever a corporate thinks of any Manpower related issues, they log on to www.ejeevika.com
Yes!
Sure, all this is a part of what we want to do.
But foremost we want to turn India around in a decade...is it possible? Hey don't you know, Impossible is nothing!
We want India to prosper, to be confident , to be on the top in the happiness and prosperity quotient.
