Intellectually Bankrupt

If a country is financially bankrupt, there is hue and cry because we are talking about hard cash which is so dear to one and all. But if a nation is strategically turning intellectually bankrupt then it is overlooked. It has been observed that people love to focus on treating the symptom and not the source of any illness. Take the good example of floods and cyclones hitting the world more frequently than ever. Countries want to focus on building stronger dams they are putting more steel and tougher cement etc so that the water does not flow in the civilized areas which have spread their claws unnecessarily on the river beds. Should not we think deeply about the cause of environmental change caused due to tampering of environment. We know about the cause but do not do any thing about it as we think it is out of our control or it wont effect us 'today'. Ok, this seems like a gyan which every one is aware about. The issue is that we know but we know not that we are a stakeholder in the whole gamut of things happening around us. Now look closer at home... we all watch TV and there are more than 100's of channels is so many languages...look at the content of those programs, questions asked by the media people on issues of importance, answers given by the so called subject matter experts...every thing that is being discussed (barring may be a few) has hit the lowest possible levels of general commonsense. TV is a great reflector of the state of our minds today. Take a walk in the park...hear what people especially young generation is talking about'whats your status' or 'accept my friend request'. We can excuse the house wives and the elderly as the topics they talk about are what they go through every day at home. So talking in the park with others relieves them of some of their stress. But what is the excuse of the younger generation. What is effecting them is 'NOT the real thing' but a marketed/ virtual/ created thing. If you happen to take a ride in the metro next time ...jut keep your eyes and ears open ...so little sensible conversation is heard that one is forced to take a note of the Intellectual vacuum that is hitting our nation silently every day.
