I am taking the Plunge today
From eternity Human beings are tirelessly working for each other, making each other’s life easy, enriched and comfortable. All the activities that human beings across the globe under take are focussed towards making some one else’s life easier and in return of their effort they get compensation for the same.
When society becomes unhappy with the way the current systems are working, they start churning out the system. Initially slowly and suddenly there is a tipping point and everything becomes unpredictable and upside down. Existing systems start collapsing; new systems are formed, as is the rule of primordial nature and its forces.
This is what is happening in our country today and elsewhere in the world too. Disruption of systems holds true not only in the management practices, scientific fields, religious outlook, political ideologies, economic models but also the way average human being feels, how they start taking risk, how they think beyond themselves.
During the last decade we have seen emergence of social entrepreneurs who are tirelessly making changes by thinking about the ‘cause’ and the ‘purpose’ and creating wealth by inclusive development. They are a group people who want the two ends to meet. But they are struggling.
These days we are seeing average people take the formidable path of politics, a path of ‘creation of a new system’, a path of service through politics. There is a new breed of capable, intelligent, sharp people who are entering politics not for money (that they could have made while in the regular profession with dignity) but for the ‘purpose’ of making the systems of democracy effective. The ‘Intent’ is very important here. The new breed of Scio-Politico- Professionals is emerging.
It is being realised that if we want a life where we can fulfil our dreams, where we can break the records of growth not only in economic terms but also in terms of human rights, safety, equality, opportunity and dignity. Then our systems should be flexible, in tune with the demand of the times, clean, transparent and fast. Currently the country’s systems are anything but the above.
For those who are not already working in the Government there can be two ways:
Support the organisation as consultants and try to make the projects work. But then this will not even help superficially as there will be no stake in any of the important decision making processes and then one is left to just produce templates of meaningless initiatives.
The other and the only option left is to be a part of the system by joining Politics. Take the responsibility, take people along and take the system head on.
By the way some may feel that they can change the systems from outside by individual effort. Yes they can change some pockets of some verticals/initiatives but not the system. There are efficient people, NGO’s and companies trying to do that. But always they come to a point where they are logger jams with the system.
So for those few who would like to take the maximum risk without wanting any personal gains in short or long term. Those who want to clean up for the future generations, for our children and for those who are working effortlessly from the outside. This is an opportunity to introspect and take the plunge of no return. I am doing so today.
